As there are wide roads and no hi-rise buildings in Mysore it feels different to other Indian cities. The standard of driving is the best I've seen in India

The area is famous for it's Bullock Cart painting

Devaraja flower and fruit market is full of colour and character.
I recommend having a driver for a day to get round to see everything. This is Ahmed - The man to drive you safely to all these places. Ask at seagull Travel at The Green Hotel
On top of Chamuni Hill is Sri Chamundeswari Temple and the statue of Nandi carved out of solid rock in 1659.
The Royal Palace is the centerpiece of the tourist route. I can't show you any photos of the spendid interior as (real) cameras are not allowed inside......although camera phones are.
The Summer Palace has wonderful paintings and drawings.
The railway museum is great fun as you can climb on the exhibits all for 10 rupees
